The 1951 Pickens County Tornados were chosen Class A State Champions by the Birmingham News from District 4.

Pickens County High of Reform completed the 1951 season riding a 21 game winning streak that propelled them to a state championship.

Four nephews of head coach H.C. Elmore helped send the team to a second consecutive undefeated season. The Elmore boys, Gerald, Hayse and Grady Elmore along with Gene Harold Kerr are all cousins. Hayse, Grady and Kerr were backfield stars along with Billy Ray Keasler at quarterback.

The line of scrimmage was held by the outstanding play of Bob Windle, Herbert and Earl Latham. Bobby Davis played end and was on the receiving passes from Keasler. Davis, Windle, Herbert Latham and Keasler were all named all county in 1951.
